Just Do It
What we have to learn to do, we learn by doing. Aristotle
Thoughts for Consideration
We live in a culture of information overload. While much of it is useless or simply meant for entertainment, we consume helpful information as well. This is especially true if we pursue it through: what we read, programs we listen to or therapy we participate in. However, if we do not DO anything with this information, we will likely forget it. Therefore, it will actually be of no real use to us.
In my own practice, I have several clients who actively want to figure out how to put into action some of the topics we discuss. When they do this, what we have talked about 'sticks.' It has meaning for them beyond just a one hour discussion one week. Obviously, not all topics lend itself to this. Some topics are only intended for self reflection, but some do lend themself to action.
Action
Take one piece of information you have read or heard lately and figure a way to put it into action in your life. This can be a new practice or addition to a routine or simply something you commit to doing with some self determined frequency. Either way, it will help you make what you found useful or helpful in theory become real and applicable to your life.
